Islander Park
Home of Cumberland Beaver Baseball
Islander Park opened less than 10 years ago because of the dedication and the vision of those who love baseball in the Island City. The park is recognized as one of the best fields in the state (it ranked second in a poll conducted for Baseball Wisconsin behind Frame Park in Waukesha) and is maintained in cooperation between the City of Cumberland, represented mostly by Jerry Lindfors, and the coaches who use the fields.
There is little doubt that the project would have never happened without the passion and drive of head coach Mark Fuller, whose leadership and passion willed the dream into a reality. With several local businesses, anonimous donors, and the volunteer efforts of dozens individuals, the park has continued to get bigger and better. New features include seating for over 300 in a stadium-type atmosphere.
Islander Park consists of the main varsity field, but also two softball fields and one other baseball field. Last year alone, over 700 games were played on the four fields by local teams!
Islander Park will be hosting its third Division II Sectional Tournament in the spring of 2009.
If you are a parent of a young baseball or softball player, find ways to get involved with the maintenance of the field. Funds are always needed to keep the park in the pristine condition that it is currently in. Contact Coach Fuller for details on how you can get involved with the Cumberland Baseball Associaton, so that we can keep this community jewel getting better and better.
